IMWAYR – Best of 2019

The weekly post where I recap some of the KidLit books I’ve been reading. Ocasionally, I’ll also talk about some adult fiction books as well.

Be sure to check out Teach Mentor Texts and Unleashing Readers to see what other Kidlit readers are reading. Because, you know, we can never have too many books in our TBR piles.

Hello and Happy New Year! I thought it would be fun to start the year off by listing some of my favorite books that I have read in the past year. How many have you read? What were your favorites?

I am also busy with reading all the amazing Cybils finalists in the Speculative Fiction category. If you’re looking for a good book, the Cybils lists are a great place to start.

    1. How to Knit a Monster was so much fun and unexpected. I love all of Cassie Beasley’s books. Have you read Circus Mirandus?

  2. I just recommended The Remember Balloons to a friend who wanted a book for her grandson, to help him understand what’s going on with his grandfather. It’s a lovely book. Thanks for sharing, Becky. I noted some new ones from your list.

    1. Yes! I thought the Remember Balloons did a fantastic job of explaining something that can be difficult for a child to grasp.

  3. Oh my, I’ve enjoyed a number of these titles, but I’m still anxiously waiting for Deep Underwater! I’m also looking forward to reading The Bootlace Magician after having just finished Circus Mirandus in November. I need to add Stonewall to my list, as well. Thanks for all the shares, Rebecca!

    1. Cassie Beasley is probably my favorite Middle Grade author right now. I thought The Bootlace Magician was just as good as Circus Mirandus. Have you read Tumble and Blue by her yet?
