The weekly post where I recap some of the KidLit books I’ve been reading. Ocasionally, I’ll also talk about some adult fiction books as well.
Be sure to check out Teach Mentor Texts and Unleashing Readers to see what other Kidlit readers are reading. Because, you know, we can never have too many books in our TBR piles.
Picture Books

by Irene Luxbacher
(Groundwood Books, 2018)
The cover of this book caught my eye at the library and I am so glad that I checked it out. I absolutely loved the illustrations. They are so layered with texture and images. It reminded me of diving in the ocean and having things like fish, shells or rocks come in and out of visibility as you swim along. The text is quiet, which went perfectly with this beautiful book.
Easy Readers

by Corey R. Tabor
(Balzer + Bray, 2018)
I have not read any of the previous fox books, but we have been taking lots of trips to the skatepark this summer so this skateboarding fox grabbed my attention. It is really cute and has made me want to check out the others in the series.
Middle Grade

Another creepy middle grade! I have really been enjoying this series and I cannot wait for the third book to come out in a few months. You can read my full review here.

Overall, I have enjoyed the entire Amulet graphic novel series. In this one, I was surprised and happy to see some of the subplots being wrapped up nicely. There is a lot to remember in the series, so I find myself needing to go back and reread the previous books, or do a quick cliff notes reading online. Can’t wait to see what the finale will bring.
Deep Underwater is a new title for me, but I’m adding it to my list. I really like that cover art! I have not yet read Fox Is Late, but I just adore this series. I am WAY behind on Amulet, so I’m going to try not to read too much about the later books. Hope to dive in over the next few months, though! Have a great reading week, Rebecca!

In some ways, I think the Amulet books will be even better when read close together. I have read them over a few years time, so I find myself having to read a recap of all the thing going on in the story. Hope you enjoy Deep Underwater!

Deep Underwater is new to me, too, but it does look beautiful. Thank you for sharing!
