Hello and Happy Poetry Friday! As you can see, my blog has gotten a little bit of a facelift. It’s still a work in progress, so please excuse the mess.
My laptop was on the fritz, so I decided to upgrade. Actually, my husband (who uses the iPad Pro to illustrate professionally) decided to upgrade and I wanted to see if I could make his “old” iPad work as my new laptop replacement.
I was really curious if a tablet could actually replace a traditional laptop for a writer so I will probably do a separate post in the future with my overall impressions.
I went shopping with my toddler today and made two observations. One, the Halloween decorations and costumes are out! We spent about 15 minutes trying on hats and masks and giggling together. I LOVE this time of year.
Second, it doesn’t matter that I live in Florida and we will not approach “fall” temperatures until MAYBE December (average high December 1st is 77 degrees during the day). The stores will rid their shelves of flip flops and shorts NOW. I found one pair of sandals (on the clearance rack) in his size. The rest were replaced by sneakers and boots. BOOTS! Seriously?
This is the one time of year that I get a bit grumbly about living in Florida. I miss fall. I miss the changing leaves, and the crispness in the air. I miss it being chilly on Halloween instead of sweating buckets in your costume. Once the snow starts hitting hard everywhere though, I stop complaining (mostly because that’s usually when we have our month of “fall-like” weather.)
So in honor of summer wrapping up, I share my (and my husband’s illustration) contribution to Carol Varsalona’s “Art of Summering” gallery.
